Today I made homemade Almond Butter. Let me get one thing straight. It’s SUPER easy. I never thought I could make something so delicious, so easily.
The best part is, I know EXACTLY what the ingredients are. No added sugar, for one!
Here’s the scoop:
INGREDIENTS
2 cups Almonds, whole (250g)
1 tbsp Coconut Oil
a dribble of Olive Oil
DIRECTIONS
Roast almonds at 325 F (160C) for about 10-15 minutes, watching and mixing regularly to avoid burning them. (This is for a deeper taste, you do not need to roast them.)
After the almonds have cooled a bit, put them into your food processor and process for about 2-5 minutes until they are crumbly. At this point, add the Coconut Oil.
Continue to process the almonds for about 15-20 minutes (depending on your processor) until it becomes like a paste, taking a break every few minutes to mix and stir by hand (to make sure everything is being incorporated). Eventually, after about 10 minutes, the almonds start releasing their natural oils, but if you feel they need help, add a tad of Olive Oil.
That’s all!
You can use this same method for all types of nuts. I can’t wait to experiment with cashews and maybe even pumpkin seeds! Pecans or walnuts with cinnamon and nutmeg, with a dash of maple syrup sounds amazing too.
DROOLING.
Do you make your own nut butters?
If not, now that you know how simple it is, give it a try!
Nutritional info will depend on your nuts; my package of 200g of raw almonds had 10.2g of carbohydrates.
wow that’s cool. Didn’t realise it could be so easy!
