Are you a happy, positive diabetic? Or do you tend to focus on the negativity of this disease? As a T1 myself, I know all too well what the world looks and feels like with this demanding disease, and I know that it is easiest to focus on the negative sides of it. In fact, people with diabetes are 3 times more likely to be diagnosed with depression than non-diabetics (Diabetes.co.uk).
Which is precisely why I created the Happy Diabetic Challenge last year, and another burst of positivity during Diabetes Awareness Month, in November. And that is exactly why I am bringing it back this MAY.
So that you MAY be a happy diabetic.
Just as the other challenges indicated, I challenge you to stop focusing on the negative sides of diabetes, and find the positives, the silver linings. For the first 10 days in May, post about something positive related to your life with diabetes. It won’t always be easy, but I do hope that it helps you create a positive mindset that you can continue with well after the challenge is over.
Feel free to use the prompts below, or discuss any other topics as you see fit!As always, please tag your pictures/posts with #happydiabeticchallenge so we can all follow along!
I’ll be using Instagram (which posts to Facebook too), but feel free to join through any social media outlet that you’d like. If you miss a day, just pick it back up the next, no worries.
MAY you be a happy diabetic!
